AN ORNATE ACANTHUS LEAF PLUME DESIGN RIMS THE PLATFORMS – THE TOP OIF WHICH IS SQUARE, AND THE LOWER ON DIAGONAL. THE STANDS ARE ABOUT 30″ TALL AND 31″ IF INCLUDING THE TOP MARBLE PLATFORM. THE ARE QUITE HEAVY, SO I BELIEVE CASE IRON PAINTED GOLD TO MIMIC BRASS. THE TOP SURFACE IS 15-1/4″ SQUARE, AND THE BOTTOM SHELF IS 10-1/4″ ACROSS THE DIAGONAL. THE PALE ROSY PINK MARBLE MEASURES 9″ SQUARE ON THE TOP, AND 5″ SQUARE OR 7 ACROSS THE LOWER PIECE. EACH HAS FOUR GRACEFULLY CURVED LEGS WITH FANCY TOES. THEY ARE IN WONDERFUL CONDITION WITH SOME PAINT WEAR. ONE IS A SMIDGIN SHORTER, YET THESE ARE TYPICALLY NOT POSITIONED RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER, SO THE 1/4 DIFFERENCE IS NOT DETECTABLE. This particular piece is very unique with four metal hooks for hanging items. Judging by various features (design of the hardware, assymetrical measurements, oxidation, etc) this piece is estimated to be from the 19th Century. Please see the 11th and 12th pics for more details on the hardware. In my humble abode, there has been much speculation as to the type of wood… I believe it to be Rosewood – however, the other house mates have separately voted for mahogany, walnut, or oak. The metal piece that has been fashioned for hanging is interesting as it is appears to be a perfect cross… But after closer inspection and accurately measuring, we are surprised that it is not at all symmetrical – leading us to conclude that this piece was made by hand before the times of mass-produced factory made furniture. This piece measures as follows: Height: 17.5 inches Base (larger) circle: 6 inches in diameter Top (smaller) circle: 4 inches in diameter This is a piece from our personal collection that was given to us by a family friend. There appears to be a bit of waxy residue on the top circle. Since under our ownership, we have not used any sort of polish / wood treatment / etc on this piece thought it was best not to mess it up since we could never agree on the type wood… Feel free to ask questions although this is about all I know… I can try to help! This is a rare Victorian Iron Wire Demi-Lune planter dating to the 1870s. This item is made with a wire mesh construct. This type of Victorian-era patio or outdoor furniture is rare due to the exposure to elements causing oxidation and decay. This planter has its fair share of surface rust and could use restoration. It is still very solid and sturdy. The scrolled edges have some bent areas that could easily be straightened and some of the scrolling needs to be reattached. The wire work has some broken areas but is overall, a very nice piece for its age. This is a beautiful antique Victorian 3-Tiered PLANT STAND. Made with onyx shelves & onyx finial accents. Beautifully ornate with fine brass or bronze scrollwork and sweeping undulating lines. Maximum dimensions are 46H x 13 3/4W x 13 1/2D. Each onyx flat measures 6 1/2W x 6 1/2D x 3/4H. The distance between the two bottom shelves is a bit more than 13 1/2. No chips or cracks to onyx. In beautiful antique condition as shown in photos. Photos taken inside and out for variations of color. For your consideration is this lovely antique tiered wire display stand. The antique stand was originally crafted long ago using wire and metal and was presumably for the implementation in the garden or home as a means of eloquently supporting and displaying the varied ornamental floral delicacies of the period. (IE: Tulips, Orchids, Roses and the likes) The Victorian garden and greenhouse was a popular past time among the well heeled of the period and pieces such as this are quite rare to find if not at least far and few between especially in this original condition, most have been either damaged and or repaired with paint and the likes that takes away from the lovely old world charm that can only be appreciated with the passage of time. 38 by 34 by 13.
